"Run!" Julia exclaimed before grabbing a hold of her bag and bolting away as soon as the sound of sirens started approaching us at an alarming speed.
Josh sprinted to his car, speeding off before I even had the chance to get in. I ran behind Julia as fast as I could until my foot got caught in a branch, making me trip as the police cars got nearer and nearer.
I struggled to get up, shouting for Julia's help that never came. My ankle felt swollen, and my guts felt as if they had just exploded with the fall. Tears started streaming down my face as an officer walked up to me.
Not my best friend and my boyfriend, no.
Those two had ditched me.
Leaving the police to only catch me.

Seventeen-year-old Sophie Reynolds thought she had her life all figured out, until a reckless decision got her sent away to her grandfather's ranch for the summer. Trading in her designer wardrobe for muddy boots was never part of her plan, especially at a place like Equestrian Creek, where the horses outnumber the people and the only excitement seemed to come from chores.
Then there's Liam Parker, the easygoing stable boy with a wicked sense of humour, a captivating British accent, and a look that could stop hearts. He's everything Sophie can't stand: carefree, unpretentious, and entirely unimpressed by her attitude. And the feeling? Mutual.
Forced to work side by side, their constant bickering begins to shift into something neither of them expected. And the more time Sophie spends around him, the more he begins to change the way she sees everything, including herself.
