The family lives lavishly in their giant castle centered in the snowy biome of the city. However, Tommy doesn't think his life is so great. He's tired of banquet after banquet. He's tired of being expected to be on his "best behavior" and have the best manners in the room. He wants to live like a normal kid. Like a kid in the city. Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn't seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
