Clay stared down at his bloody mask and refused to make eye contact with George or Zak. "It's not just that," he noted, clearly showing terror. "I can't activate it, that has to be one of the keys. What if...what if the previous players didn't active theirs, and that's why they all died. What if they weren't the sacrifice, what is it's me?" The two boys stared at him, both frozen. Zak was the only one to speak up. "Clay, it's not-" "Then why the hell can't I activate my goddamn Penumbra-" the spear piercing his stomach halted his sentence. - - In a forest where shadows fight back and water tries to drown you, George woke up with no memory, only his name and that he wasn't in the right place. The others shared this experience, the Numbered Generation. Some try to live their best lives in their new nightmare-like life, while others seek freedom.
