"Over four hundred years ago, we were saved by a man named Adrig. In his glory, he ascended to power and called himself God. People believed him. Now he is long dead, but his government still reigns. They are protecting us from the world we live in, from each other, and even from ourselves." It's the same story every year. My name is Adrianna and I live in a world of no emotion, no individuality and no freedom. We all do. People know little of the lies they have been fed, of how much better life can be. It's easy to fall for the tales of Adrig. But I won't be fooled. I am a participant in the Pageant, like every eighteen year old girl must be. They say it's a duty; they say it's an honour. I know what it really is. I understand the truth. It is no more than a contest, and those who lose, die. What kind of world is this anyway? -Domed (Previously Pageant To The Death) ** SCIENCE FICTION #657 - FANTASY #794 (1 September 2014) Copyright © 2014 by Patricia West DO NOT STEAL MY WORK

She doesn't think she deserves to live or get Macario (her best friends) affections. Because she wasn't there for Hugo. So, why should Laney? This is her story of redemption.

(Unedited.) "No matter how you try not to live in the past, sometimes the past lives in you." Erin Miller is a desperate author who doesn't pay attention to dates and romance. All she wanted is to publish her own story to fulfill her dreams. Spending her days and long nights in front of thick papers and a pen writing down all her thoughts. Then stopped after a few because she lacked one thing–inspiration. When a friend sets her up to a blind date with some random guy, she thought he will make her dream come to life. That with just one first look at him, she knew he is going to be the one who will make her write from her heart and not from her mind. A man named Sam Hall. Sam is like Erin too, dating doesn't interest him. But meeting Erin changed his perspective when he saw something different about her. Something that made him see life out of his comfort zone. Out to live life to the fullest, that life is meant to be hard but it isn't meant to be hateful. All seems perfect, but not everything have a happy ending. They separated ways and Erin moved away, leaving Sam behind. Until one day when they meet again, they were both a total stranger to one another. Literally. ********************** August 26, 2014; It's my third story! Enjoy! :) Text copyright © DaisyB, 2014 Advisory: This is a work of fiction. When you fold a piece of paper, you're essentially changing the memory of that piece Under the dim light of my desk lamp, I took the square piece of fuchsia paper and laid it on the table. Flipping it over to the reverse blank side, I fished out a pen from the depths of my pencil case. Pen between my fingers, I contemplated writing what I really wanted to relay. My true thoughts. These meaningless feelings. Inhaling deeply, my hand quivered as I tried to control the strokes on the thin sheet of paper. "Please forget about this." I wrote, in minute handwriting. I then started to fold the paper up with my clumsy fingers. Over the reverse side I made a crease, over the inverse side I made a crease. I folded a corner, turned a flap inside out. I smoothed out the paper on the table, and finally dared to take a peek at what I had created. The end product I received was a horribly disfigured cherry blossom. Imperfect, ruined and ugly. Just like my imperfect, ruined, and ugly soul. -Cover background by Avwyn from Deviantart, all credit goes to the artist- -Cover edited by me-

(Thriller/General Fiction/Short story) Were you to photograph her you would not do so in color, but rather with the shades of in-between. Stark greys coated beneath the curve of her chin, pallid white daubed across her cheeks, her collarbones sinking into the black strokes of a silk shirt. She is a woman of few differentiating factors but many faces, many of which are not hers. You see, the photographer likes to live through the eyes of strangers. But she herself is more than just a photograph. And her story isn't only black and white. Her story is one that must be told through words instead of images, through reality instead of memory, and it is one that even she could not capture within a lens.

"C-Can you keep it a secret?" I spoke softly. "Sure. But I need you to do something for me." He answered with a hard look on his face. I'm in deep trouble. Maybe he will ask me to steal, smoke or even worse he will want my nudes! "Get your head out of the gutter. I just need you to go on a date with me." Oh, it's just a date. Wait what?! A date?! With him?! This will not end well and I could tell already. Because nothing good ever happens when it comes to Drew Romeo Knight. ** ** **
