"I love you, too, my dear." Kanna exhales a shaky breath. "I'd never forgive myself if you don't... if you left without knowing that." Katara doesn't miss her grandmother's change of phrase. Kanna's unspoken words are a truth, an ice in her veins Katara has tried so very hard to ignore. This might be goodbye. ("To heal is to touch with love that which we previously touched with fear." - Stephen Levine. A Katara-centric companion piece to "Forgotten Language.")

Katara lives in District Twelve, constantly struggling to support her family after the death of her mother. She dreads the Reaping each year just like everyone else, knowing if she is chosen she would be sent to the Capitol to fight in the Hunger Games, a televised competition where twenty-four teenagers fought to the death. But when the day finally comes, it isn't her who is chosen. It's her brother, Sokka. So Katara does the unthinkable. She volunteers to take his place. And suddenly she is thrust into the glamorous world of the Capitol along with her district partner, Zuko, headed to the arena. Making alliances, fighting enemies, and staying alive is hard enough. What happens if romance is thrown into the mix? *This might not be very good because it's the first thing I've ever written. I wrote it when I was bored during quarantine.* *Warning: Violence and death* *Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar the Last Airbender or any of its characters. I also do not own the Hunger Games or the cover art* Best rankings: #1 in zutara #11 in hunger games

"16 years ago, Avatar Aang passed away at the late age of 98. He fought off attacks of the Fire Nation nearly his entire life, leaving behind a great legacy. His death was tragic, though in peace," the lady closed her eyes as to remember the late hero for a short moment before she continued, " he passed in his sleep, surrounded by family and love. Quite frankly, the world has been without it's Avatar for nearly thirty years. He became weak in his last years, leaving the rest of the world defenseless to our enemy, the Fire Nation. Now, dear Katara, it is your turn, as the next Avatar, to try and restore what the world has lost, " the lady paused from a swell of emotions, and Katara didn't know she was going to continue until a man stepped forward to finish for her. "Peace, " he said, his posture emanating power as he stood towering over the other women and Katara as she kneeled a few feet away from them all. Katara was as frozen as the ice structure she sat in. "The next... A-Avatar? " (Original idea) (cover creds @alartriss on Instagram) **I do not own Avatar the Last Airbender or any of the characters from the show**

Long ago, the four nations were engaged in war. But everything changed when the Fire Nation splits in half. With Fire Lord Ozai slain, Prince Zuko now takes the throne as Princess Azula regroups in Ba Sing Sae with Ozai loyalists to conquer and attempt to take the Fire Nation throne back. The hunt for the Avatar's friends begin again. This time in a quest for allyship to liberate the Earth Kingdom from Azula's tyrannical pull. But allyship is never easy and the quest for peace has never been harder to achieve. (Takes place after the end of Book Two and is rewritten from there. Extreme Canon Divergence. If that's not your cup of tea, don't drink it. No hard feelings.) (Picture is not mine, source: www.deviantart.com/kyatia)
