Driven from the Resistance and her friends by her Force bond with the enemy, Rey strives to live a peaceful life far away from the galactic war that rages on without her. Although Kylo Ren does everything in his power to shield her from harm, he soon learns he cannot do so from afar. But when a threat to her life brings him to her side, his deepest desires and fears are both realized and a foe long thought defeated rises again. This is a concise, focused story with a complete arc designed to be read in only a few sittings. You can think of it as my vision for just the Rey/Ben scenes for the Episode IX film. It has been several months since the death of two powerful force users, Luke Skywalker and Snoke. Several months since Kylo and Rey's last encounter. The Resistance rebuilds their forces on Polis Massa, the planet Luke and Leia were born on, while the First Order lays low due to the conflict within the mighty Kylo Ren. Rey sets out on a difficult task. Will she succeed in her task to end the reign of the First Order?

If everyone would just stop. Let him burn. Let him go. The pain would cease and he would finally be free. Something within him, a small voice, corrected this thought. I will never be free from this pain. His actions, his choices would haunt him for as long as he lived. "Ben?" A soft voice spoke. He did not want to answer her. To the name he did not deserve, but he could not stop himself. "What do you want?" --><-- Did you watch The Last Jedi and wonder what exactly was going on in Kylo's mind? My dear reader your search is over! Out of desperation I wrote the scenes from The Last Jedi from Kylo's perspective (at least my take on it) and continued the story beyond Episode 8! Will Rey succeed in turning Ben? Can he ever truly turn to the Light? Or will his demons keep him in the dark? Kylo Ren. Ben Solo. Whatever you prefer to call him this is his story. NOTE: Say Something is the last part concerning TLJ everything after that point is from my own imagination and speculation moving forward. With Kylo Ren's darkness encasing her like a safeguard -a dark swirling mass of power with the density of deep space- Rey's bright gold Force-essence exploded to life with the radiant illumination of solar flares and stars. Luke's face shot back to his groaning nephew. Kylo's Force aura had visibly changed too. He was still enveloped by thick blanketing shadows, but they seemed well under his control now. They ebbed and wove around him, moving with him, rather than against him. Luke blinked in disbelief but It was unmistakable; Within Kylo Ren's dark aura of swirling shadows were sparks and flakes of Rey's golden light and together they spiraled as one thriving solar system of both the light and dark. Rey recovered first and she half dragged herself to Ren. Unsure of what would happen next, Luke stood stead fast in his curiosity as the girl stumbled to her knees before his nephew who was still cradling his head between his forearms, his screams only just dying down to muffled whimpers. She reached out towards the Dark sider, her hand hesitating nervously within the space between them. -Her fingers twitching, her lungs tight, and then, she shakily placed it on his trembling arm. Instantly he stilled under her touch, his body calming in response to her contact. The Force between where skin met skin, visibly glowed. It wasn't just darkness. Nor just light. It was something new. Something born between the two. As if lightning had struck Luke where he stood, enlightenment filled the old Jedi's eyes and the passage he'd forgotten so long ago, came back to him all at once; "First comes the day Then comes the night. After the darkness Shines through the light. A year after Luke died, Rey is still grieving over Ben Solo. Nobody thinks he will come back, especially since he killed his own mentor, Snoke, and became Supreme leader himself. Kylo doesn't want anyone to know it but regrets killing his father for nothing. There is still force moments between him and Rey but She keeps blocking them out. Rey has decided to help the resistance in any way she can. The Resistance is being rebuilt but there is a new challenge they must face. They were hacked. Rey needs to find out who hacked them in order for herself to feel useful. But when she bumps into Kylo, how will it go when Rey can't block him? Will she finally get Ben Solo to come back home or will she fail and have to make him pay for the consequences of his actions?

Rey knew Ben Solo needed her. He'd never fully succeeded in killing his past, and those cornerstones of his life dragged behind him, a weight he refused to process, to grieve, and to forgive. That was what he needed her for. Not to stay his hand, or protect people from his destructive form of help, but when the goodness in him cracked open the seal, and his past came flooding in, threatening to drown him. Until then, all she could do was stay beside him, which was shaping up to be more difficult than anything she'd ever done. But at least it was action. And if there was one thing she trusted Ben Solo to do well, it was hunt the enemy. *Originally released on Archive of Our Own, now edited and remastered for Wattpad.
