Doch vorher muss er die letzten Monate in der Schule überstehen- was ziemlich schwierig ist, wenn ihm Tim, ein beliebter und verdammt gut aussehender Typ eine Stufe unter ihm, als Nachhilfeschüler aufgedrückt wird. Beide haben wenig Lust auf die gemeinsamen Stunden, wo sie doch so grundsätzlich verschieden sind. Doch zwischen den Lernzetteln, halb aufgegessenen Burgern und Momenten des Verzweifelns finden die beiden Jungen Hoffnung ineinander.

Mateo knew something was up the moment he took a bite of the French Toast on the morning of September 5, 2017. He knew something was off when he crawled out of the safe space on the bed to go and turn on the oven. He knew he was safe when he felt two strong arms pulling him from the extreme heat. However, panic filled him as he felt the air suddenly grow to nothing. He could hear Rufus muffledly screaming and crying. Something was wrong, something was terribly wrong. He tried to move, he was kicking and yelling out, but he couldn't see anything. His glasses. The fire must've melted them. There was a loud rustle, then the air was back once again, along with the bright light of the moon, which was quickly followed by a blast of pain throughout his entire body. He survived. He cheated death. Rufus was there, sobbing as he hugged the life out of Mateo, who deposite hurting badly, did not push him away. He embraced this, almost like a small victory. His head ached, his muscles ached, the burns that covered his skin ached the most, though. But he was alive. He was alive and so was the love of his life, his dearest and "Last Friend", Rufus. No, not a friend. His soulmate. His boyfriend. His lover. He was not his best friend. He was something far more than that. The Plutos were his best friends, Mateo, was his world. There were ups and downs but this will be an experience they'll never forget even if they're destined to die at the end. It's almost 9 o'clock and they're both resting in Mateo's bed back at his apartment. **highly recommend reading the book before this~ I read this book a few years ago and it instantly became my favourite. I decided to write this since the end of the book hurt like hell and this was how I dealt with the pain lmao Hopefully I caught all the mistakes when I updated it, if not, please lmk :)

Mateo is a Collage student he doesn't do much and mostly goes unnoticed; He goes to class, plays with his best friend daughter/ his goddaughter, and goes home to his dad and plays video games. Rufus works fulltime at Mateo's collage campus Starbucks and has dreams of being a photographer. These two are compete opposites but are brought together.

Mateo and Rufus are gone but for their friends, the story is just beginning... A new last day begins, one not full of romantic possibilities but friendships old and new.
