Ma sanno tutti che è solo la quiete prima della tempesta. Oltre alla scomparsa di Clarke ed a Lexa ed il suo esercito che sono tornati ad essere una minaccia, un'altra nemica, la più sanguinosa di tutte, porrà fine a questa calma apparente. Però, per la piccola ed ingenua Alyx c'è prima un altro problema da risolvere, ovvero due occhi scuri e talmente pericolosi da farle mancare il fiato ogni volta.

Solo 48 persone sono presenti all'appello di Mount Weather, una base militare dove era previsto l'atterraggio sulla terra. Muont Weather è un vero paradiso, c'è tutto quello che serve a degli adolescenti sopravvissuti a cose molto più grandi di loro. Ma sono comunque solo 48, e questo vuol dire che sono rimaste ancora molte persone là fuori completamente scoperti contro i terrestri. Ma presto Mount Weather non si dimostrerà così fantastico come pensavano i 48 e tutte le beffe nascoste sotto la superficie risaliranno velocemente.

Non è obbligatorio aver visto la serie per leggere⚠️ Sono passati ben 97 anni da quando le bombe hanno reso la terra completamente inabitabile. Solo una piccola parte della popolazione è riuscita a salvarsi per mezzo di una nave lanciata nello spazio: l'Arca. Ma ovviamente il desiderio di tornare a casa è troppo forte e l'egoismo umano ha portato il Cancelliere, colui che deteneva le regole, a spedire 100 detenuti che non hanno assolutamente nulla da perdere sul pianeta in questione per constatare se fosse tornato di nuovo ad essere abitabile. Una di questi 'fortunati prescelti' è Alyx Kane, come già si dovrebbe aver capito è la figlia del vice-cancelliere Marcus Kane anche se preferirebbe di gran lunga non esserlo. Lei è una ragazza decisamente ribelle, impulsiva, testarda e sulla terra combinerà non pochi casini, ma a cercare di fermarla sempre (anche se non ha ancora capito che è solo una perdita di tempo) ci penserà Bellamy Blake, un ragazzo a dir poco egocentrico e che si comporta come se fosse il capo assoluto ed Alyx ovviamente non è nata per essere controllata. Il loro rapporto sarà decisamente complicato: ricco di litigate, urla e sfuriate ma sopratutto si ritroverà ad essere decisamente contorto per la maggior parte dei loro compagni, compresi loro stessi.
