Chirstams is the best time of year or so people might think but not for the people of UA heroes course. Unknown to the first semesters, there is an anual war game which is held at christmas times in the unground city right beneath UA. No one knows about the 3 cities build beneath UA which served as a war game for each and every hero semester. Now what would you do if you find yourself stuck in a room wearing something different than your PJ and waking up in the cold? Would you panic? Would you try and be a hero? Whelp in Izuku's case, he started to immediately gather informations since that was the only thing he could do while not knowing if he was kidnapped or if this was a sick joke of UA.
