The BORI (Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute) Critical Edition: This monumental work was produced through the efforts of numerous Sanskrit scholars initially headed by Prof. V.S.Sukthankar. Below is the brief summary of the project: A giant research project undertaken by the BORI since its inception was "The Critical Edition of Mahabharata". Edited by the likes of V. S. Sukhtankar, S. K. Belvalkar, S. K. De, Prof. Dr. R. N. Dandekar, the Critical Edition enjoys the status of one of the most prestigious and appreciated editorial work of the world. This edition was prepared with painstaking efforts of scholars for about five decades consulting 1,259 manuscripts. A comprehensive Prolegomena (Vol. I), written by V. S. Sukhtankar, brings out the material and methodology of the project. The completed Critical Edition of the Mahabharata (18 Parvas; 89000+ verses in the Constituted Text, and an elaborate Critical Apparatus; 19 Volumes: No. of pages: 15000+ demi-quarto size ) was released on September 22, 1966 at the hands of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the then President of India.

"Dharme cha arthe cha kaame cha mokshe cha bharatarshabha. Yadhihasti tadanyatra yannehasti na tadkvachit".. Everything that is there about Dharma (righteous/ just), Artha (wealth/ economics), kaama (lust/ desires) and moksha (salvation/ liberation) everything is there in the Bharatha text. You can find it in other books. But what is not found in this will not be found anywhere else. 1988 - A year when the epic appeared on screen 94 episodes. B R Chopra's Mahabharatha. I saw it recently and compared with 25 years later Mahabharat in Star plus. I also compared to the stories I read. I also evaluated in my view and my opinion of the direction, cast, art, acting and technology. Here is the set of things I remember
