Elves and humans had lived peacefully in their own kingdoms for years. That was until the king got greedy, wanting to take over the elves land. The elves, not wanting to lose their magical lands, fought for it. After years and years of bloodshed, both rulers thought it'd be best to stop this war, and cut off each other from their lives. Many lives had been lost, including the king's. All that's left is burning hatred from the other kingdom. Sugawara is just a simple water blood elf, a big dreamer with an even bigger heart. He knows about the grudge between the humans and elves, but can't seem to figure out why this rivalry has been going on for three hundred years. Karasuno má za sebou náročné soustředění. Vrací se z něj až pozdě v noci pomocí už známého autobusu. Je 12. června, tedy den před Sugawarovími narozeninami. Ten na to ale nemá zatím ani pomyšlení a v klidu oddechuje opřený o sklo autobusu. Po několika hodinách se probudí. Jenže si uvědomí.. že něco je jinak.

Sugawara Koushi. Milovala jsem ho od té doby, kdy jsem nastoupila na střední školu Karasuno. Nikdy jsem však neměla kuráž doznat se mu ke svým citům. Nikdy jsem netušila, že pár rozhovorů, několik posezení o přestávce u oběda, jen trochu nepatrných, náhodných doteků mi umožní cítit lásku tak hlubokou, abych začala vykašlávat okvětní lístky. Hanahaki disease je fiktivní choroba, při které oběť neopětované lásky začne zvracet nebo vykašlávat okvětní lístky a květiny kvetoucích rostlin rostoucích v plicích, které nakonec dorostou dostatečné velikosti na to, aby znemožnily dýchání. Hanahaki lze vyléčit chirurgickým odstraněním kořenů rostlin, ale tato operace má také za následek odstranění schopnosti pacienta cítit romantickou lásku. Může také vymazat vzpomínky pacienta na milované. Lze jej také vyléčit oplácením pocitů oběti.
