Jota Miyashi had been surviving his whole life. An abusive home. A school that looked through him. A little sister who was the only reason he got up in the morning. His spirit was already dead before the dead started walking. When the world ended, Jota picked up a gun and walked out of the smoke. But walking out meant walking with Yuna Suzuki, the most popular girl in school, the girl who never once looked his way, through a world that had forgotten the rules that kept them apart. The further they travel, the more Jota leaves behind. His innocence. His limits. His humanity. All of it shattered to protect the one person who matters most. Some people lost themselves when the world ended. Jota Miyashi found himself. When survival means dying, the already dead live.

With the rise of the undead and collapse of society, Sara's life should have been turned upside down. But it's still basically the same- follow the rules, stay out of sight, and hope to avoid notice. It's not great, but surviving is surviving in this new, dangerous world. Drew has a similar strategy for the end of the world. With his brother and brother's girlfriend looking to him to keep them alive, Drew always takes the safest path possible. They never stay still, never get too comfortable, and never get involved- with the dead or the living. But a series of bad luck and a chance encounter changes everything for both of them. Now, for the first time Sara can remember, she has to decide for herself what her next move will be. And faced with the possibility of teaming up with a stranger, Drew will have to decide if non-involvement is really the safest strategy.
