"After all the trouble I caused. After what I did to you . . . Did you really expect me to be able to look you in the eye?" Cordelia Sutton, young and gentle, has seen her fair share of tribulations in life. From the untimely death of her parents to the forced removal of one of her closest friends, she desired nothing more than a quiet life in the country. But with the insistent urges from a family friend to return to London, the pressure placed upon young ladies by society is difficult enough, even more so for Cordelia who finds herself coming face-to-face with a man she thought she would never see again. Now not only must she find a way to navigate the complex world of the pure bloods but also battle her own emotions pertaining to a certain Marquis. It is a difficult task for one so ignorant of the world to undertake, and one where a sense of propriety could very well mean the difference between life and death for a love once lost. ***All rights reserved. In the glittering world of Regency London, Isabella "Isa" Fairmont is a young woman caught between duty and desire. The daughter of a family beset by financial ruin, Isa is determined to protect her family's reputation-no matter the cost. But when her latest misstep throws her into the scandalous spotlight, Isa finds herself in a precarious situation with the infamous Duke of Ravenshire, Nicholas Everstone. Nicholas, a man hardened by betrayal and a past love that still haunts him, is the last person Isa would ever choose as a protector. With a cold exterior and a reputation for using people to his advantage, Nicholas makes an unexpected proposal: a fake engagement to shield Isa from the ton's gossip and save her family from further ruin. In return, he'll use her to spite his overbearing mother and undermine her suffocating control. As they navigate the delicate balance between scandal and respectability, Isa and Nicholas are forced to confront their own assumptions and desires. Isa finds herself captivated by Nicholas's haunted past and the quiet, vulnerable man beneath the title. Nicholas, in turn, begins to see the depth of Isa's spirit-her quiet strength and resilience in the face of overwhelming pressure. But as their carefully constructed ruse begins to blur with real feelings, they both must face the truth about love, trust, and the dangers of opening one's heart.

Sophia has sacrificed everything for her younger sister, Lucy. She has removed them from the only home they ever knew, taken on the care of Lucy's illegitimate son, George, and even assumed the role of a widow and mother in order to erase all hint of scandal from the boy's birth. But rumor continues to follow them like the darkest of clouds, and Sophia must adapt to her new existence as a false widow with no prospects beyond the doors of her small cottage. Lord Haughton - "Finn" to those close to him - will stop at nothing to prevent the slightest whiff of disgrace from tainting his family's name. When he learns of his younger brother's latest indiscretion-one that leaves a bastard child in his wake-Haughton rushes across the country to offer the boy's mother a comfortable living in exchange for her silence about the child's true parentage. But he arrives only to have his generous offer thrown back in his face by Sophia Brixton, a sharp-tongued and sharper-witted woman who proceeds to toss him out of her house. But just because he is banished from her home does not mean he is so easily banished from her life.

A guide to Regency England for readers of classic literature or historical fiction set in the early 19th century. England, as it was in the early 1800's, can sometimes be as confusing to a modern reader as travelling to a foreign country. Their clothes, manners, methods of transport, money and even some words they used can be unfamiliar to us today. I hope this book will grow into a helpful source of reference for any reader who is exploring the classic authors, like Jane Austen and Maria Edgeworth, or enjoying the wide range of early 19th century set historical stories found here at Wattpad.

🏆 2025 Amby Favorite 🏆 Edmund Westworth (26), the third Earl of Beaumont, and the most eligible bachelor in London, unknowingly started a tradition he now regrets. At age twenty-two he danced the first dance at the season opening ball at Almack's with a young lady who became the toast of the season. The next year he did the same. Every year since, he has danced one dance, to fulfill his mother's requirement. And every year his dance partner becomes the most sought after girl of the season. Some think he has a gift, Edmund thinks he could pick any girl and 'the ton' would deem her desirable based on his dance alone. His friends disagree and bet him 100£ to choose a dance partner who couldn't possibly entice the gentlemen of London. When her father suddenly passes away, Elizabeth Cavendish (20) has to move in with her aunt's family. With the estate entailed, Elizabeth needs to find a husband quickly or her aunt will install her into a governess or lady's companion position, which would severely hinder Beth's ability to work on her scientific experiments. Garbed in her cousin's horrific dresses from last season, she only has a few weeks to find a husband before she is doomed to tedious work for the rest of her life. She finds an unlikely accomplice in the Earl of Beaumont. Please don't copy any part of my story in any form (including Youtube) without my permission. A younger sister cannot wed before an older sister. It's a law of their society, a rule vehemently obeyed by prominent families in the nobility, and it's always been Ella Harrington's buffer. Ella has never been interested in marrying for anything short of love itself. Unfortunately for her, love is a rarity in the marriages of the aristocracy. Fortunately for her, her sister Emily is precisely one year older than her and is the most unpleasant, disagreeable, sulking woman to ever debut in all of England. So Ella may never have to marry at all. A free woman, she enjoys her time on the sidelines and wishes for nothing more. That is, until a tall, dark, and brooding Duke comes to town alongside an old friend of her brother's. Suddenly, Ella finds herself questioning the antiquated marriage order rule as her buffer begins to feel more like a barrier. Not that it matters. The Duke isn't interested in her anyway. Right?
