"He saw the darkness in her beauty. She saw the beauty in his darkness." Si Araceli Felices ay lumaki sa relihiyosong pamilya. Bawat galaw niya ay kailangan naaayon sa kung ano ang gusto ng pamilya niya. Bawat salita niya ay kailangan hindi makaka-sakit sa kapwa. Maging ang desisyon niya ay kailangan naka-base sa kung ano ang nakasulat sa banal na biblia. Para kay Ara ay ayos lang sa kaniya ay ganoong pamumuhay. Hindi niya kine-kuwestyon ang kung ano ang paniniwalang mayroon ang pamilya niya dahil tahimik at masaya naman sila. Ngunit nang tumuntong ang dalaga sa kaniyang ika-dalawangpu't isang kaarawan ay unti-unti nagbabago ang pananaw niya sa buhay. Simula lamang ito nang mapanaginipan niya ang isang estrangherong lalaki. Wala sana itong epekto sa dalaga. Ngunit nababagabag siya, dahil sa tuwing mapapanaganipan niya ito, nakikita niya ang sarili na katalik ang ginoo.
