She started having those weird dreams some time ago. she saw that man....whose face was blurred. She could hear his voice, see his hair but...the face was always blurry...., Then she went to a party. And in her drunken state she saw the same rare hair color and heard the same voice from her dream. She wasn't sober...and if she was..she wouldn't have followed him... But she did. And here she was...in a luxurious bed... With the crown prince sleeping peacefully next to her. Annie Hunter was a normal girl. Ever since she was bullied back in middle school, she has never been herself after that. Over the summer Annie came up with an idea. Mask. Now that she's starting high school, every day she would wear a mask. She not only decided to wear the mask to school but also at home. She wouldn't talk to her mom but she does listen to her. Her mom would get worried all the time and call a therapist to try and help her but it's just not helping. One day her English teacher assigned a project to the whole class. They needed a partner in order to start the project. She sat at a desk at the back of the class next to Chance Beckett, one of the most popular guys in freshman year, who she is partnered with. Chance is popular but he is not like his friends who would bully others. He is more of the friendly type, but Annie does not know that. Chance wants to be more than just partners doing a project together. He wants to be friends with Annie. He also wants to know what's hiding behind the mask. What is a mask? A covering for a portion of the face, worn as a disguise or to amuse or frighten others, right? But in this world, not every people wears a mask. Instead, they wear an invisible mask. A mask that no one can see. It can hide their emotions, intentions, and everything. It's genuinely amusing that some people wear this mask to hide their ugly side, and no one can see through it. Like others, I also wear a mask to hide my ugly side, which no one can see. A side that is darker than the night. Sometimes people break their masks cause they can't handle the pressure of wearing this mask. Now the question is that "what will happen if a person's mask breaks?
