Fireball didn't think he would become close with anyone, even after s1 was cancelled. But when Winter rolls around, Fireball finds himself helping a certain coin out. Or 5 times Pound asks Fireball to help warm him and one time where he didn't have to ask. Authors note: After I rewatched all of c2bc when ep 7 was announced to come out tomorrow, I wondered how Fireball and Pound became close between s1 and s2. There's probably a canon story behind it but this is my own take on it, this will be full of headcanons so I'm sorry if it seems out of character.
