Iris Selwyn doesn't know how she ended up at Wools Orphanage, nor does she know much about anything, she learns when she meets Tom; a closed-off boy with an unsettling air about him, and further more, the boy all the other children are terrified of. For some reason, however, Tom seems to tolerate Iris. Why? She doesn't know- but it's clear that nothing good can come from this unlikely friendship.. but it's her, so of course she befriends him anyway, despite the insanity that shines through not long after. Extract: (Tom) "Stop being so naive. You forget how long I have been at this orphanage. Did you never stop to think why I have not simply wasted away just as the others have? It's because I have leaned how to survive, Selwyn. I alone have managed to make something of myself. I alone have changed my fate." Extract (2): "He wasn't a good person" she said simply. "This isn't real, this should be happening" Tom mutters under his breath, his hands grasped onto the rail of the astronomy tower, head hung low. "What isn't real Tom?" He turns around and grabs your hand that hung at your side, bringing it up to his chest and placing on the smooth clothing that covered his warm flesh just above his heart "What are you doing to me?" he whispers, cupping your face with his other hand, stroking your soft cheek with his thumb. Your heart stopped momentarily as you stared into his glistening brown eyes that shone with longing. You closed your eyes, taking comfort in the warmth that spread through your body as he caressed you gently. "Goodbye (y/n)" Tom pulls back, your body suddenly cold, missing the warmth of his hand. The heels of his shoes click against the floor as you hear him walk away, he stops near the staircase and peers over his shoulder, taking one last glace with sad eyes before retreating down the steps. Harry grinned. "At least I have a girlfriend," Ron remarked, I put my chin in my palm smiling at Hermione. "You know who else has a girlfriend?" Harry raised one eyebrow, I could tell what was coming next. "Dean."

"I think I'll meet you guys there, I'm going to go and see if I can talk to Harry." Hermione whispered in my ear. I gave her a nod and sat down on the couch with Ron. "I like this." Ron said, pulling the long braid I had going down my back. "Eat your scone." I said, pushing the scone in his hand towards his mouth. He laughed a little. ----- You're a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts, you're friends with the golden trio. Particularly friendly with Ron. You're quite introverted, but not necessarily shy. You see the world as it is, no filter. ***I'm not sure if this would be classed as a slow burn as it happens quicker than a slow burn but it's not necessarily fast. A slightly quicker burn?
