Kicking sand into a black girl's fresh braids probably wasn't the best way to make friends for six-year-old Marshall Stone. In fact, that's how he found a rival. Love Lewis has always disliked the boy that had her mother on a rampage when she came home with sandy hair in the first grade. She thought that would be the first and last she'd be seeing of him. Oh, how lucky she is to continue the rest of her elementary, middle, and high school years with him. Imagine the relief she felt when they began attending different colleges - ten minutes away from each other but far enough for her. Two years of only having to see him at basketball games and the occasional party turned into the result of maybe his worst idea to date. When Marshall Stone decides to rope her into a not-so-well-thought-out plan to fool his father and soon-to-be-step-mother into thinking he has a girlfriend, Love couldn't be more confused. She's sure he has girls falling at his feet, ready to throw themselves at him, completely willing to fake a relationship just for some alone time with him. So why her? Unfortunately, Marshall doesn't even know the answer to that question. But who said you can't find Love when you least expect it? Copyright © MIDNXGHTSUN

cover by @pacifyherafi / nicole "Sure, maybe the urban Boston wouldn't be completely socially aware, but they'd at least have some idea of how to treat us like we were all the same. So, we were packing up our bags, and I was going to a new school, and I'd do fine as long as I stayed away from those white boys." - - - Robin Skye was packing her bags and (hopefully) moving away from the racial discrimination she's had to face in Georgia. Of course she was guided by her mother and father to stay away from the source of the racism - white boys. But, River just couldn't stay away from her. NOTE - - - do not read this if you know you won't agree on the ways that this book touches on racism because you will get your feelings hurt !! Drew remembered the little girl who befriended him when no one else would. He remembered her long braids and her cocoa butter scent. And when he found her again, he swore to never let go. He made a silent promise; that no matter where he went or what he was doing, he'd always come back to her.
