Nya Smith was a normal 14 year old girl who parents were kidnapped shortly after her birth. She and her brother Kai Smith who was 16 at that time ran their parents blacksmith shop, but one day as an old man came by, both Kai's and Nya's lifes changed forever. When the skeleton army attacked their shop and kidnapped Nya, an old man came to Kai and trained him to be a Ninja. There Kai met 3 other boys that were also collected by the old man. As they worked together to free Nya, the 4 boys went to the underwood to defeat the evil lord Garmadon who was leading the skeleton army but when they came back Nya had disappeared. This is the sequel to the book: The Place Where It All Began. After the events of the battle, most of the Ninja think that their brother is dead. When Nya finds clues that points to Jay possibly not being dead, they think that Nya is in denial and that she has gone crazy. Nya then leaves the bounty and will not rest until Jay is found. Someone wakes up in a realm that no one has ever heard of before. There isn't just 16 realms in Ninjago. There are things that's don't always seem to be what they look like. In this realm, there are clues that point to the possibility of The First Spinjitzu Master still being alive.

His sister Nya is very protective over hem cause Kai is bullied. When Kai meets the ninja, he keeps his blindness to hem self and wares color contacts to hide. Will Kai learn to rely on his fellow ninja or, will he be alone in his blind world.
