The Hunger Games are about to begin, and each district is apprehensively waiting for the next tributes in line to represent their own district. Serena Elodea, who is a Career from District 4, soon finds herself as the tribute for the fishing district. Her initial plan to come out formidable in the Games soon backfires on her, when unexpected events happen before even entering the arena. She will soon realize what self-destruction these Games bring, and what truly matters when death is in clear view.

President Paylor has been assassinateded by Alva Snow; who returns to take over Panem with a fiery vengance. The 77th Hunger Games have officially begun. Silver Iris and Rye Mellark have been drafted in the Reaping - along with Axel Hawthorne, Retiarius Odair, Alura Abiteth, and twenty-one helpless others. Will Gale and Katniss finally receive their long awaited apologies, or will bitterness take a deeper root?
