Some people attribute the word to meaning the story is a fanfiction, but that would be a One-Shot fanfic, not a One-Shot. In simple terms, a one-shot is a short piece, whether it be a single photo or a single story, that sticks to one subject and has no chapters, no volumes and no sequels.
