Symbolism is the act of taking a simple object or idea and placing weight and emotion upon it. Fire becomes the image of anger and hatred. Dusk is now slowly dying hope. Battered shoes turn into the representation of adventure. This collection contains poetry that utilizes strong emotional symbols, exploring the idea that not everything is as simple as it appears. Each of my poems are their own entity, shaded in different hues and personalities. They are empathetic with many universal themes.

Happiness hallucinates me from reality. Sadness shuts me from the world. Fear frees me from doing stupid stuffs. Disgust is way deeper than you think. And actually, anger is not always about hate. Whatever you feel now, just remember that you have the right to express it. [12-20-17: #37 for Poetry] [From 10-30-15 to 09-14-16]

My first collection of original poetry, designed to represent what I have done and seen in life so far. I'll be uploading to YouTube whenever I can, I'm creating backing soundtracks for each poem (and building funds for a microphone). If you enjoy any of the poems, please consider giving them a vote :) Order of poems might change as I develop the collection. Find me on Facebook: /mattshawpoetry I'm also on Twitter @mattshawpoetry Enjoy :)

I'm fine I'm fine I'll be fine. | A story told through verse. WARNING: Because of the themes I introduce in this book (eating disorders, strong language, and self harm), Wattpad has rated this story mature. HOWEVER, I personally recommend this to be PG-13, so don't be afraid to check out "I'm Fine" if you're okay with reading the above subjects. In short, this book isn't for everyone. Just read the tags. But if you're interested, please continue forth and enjoy this emotional ride.
