When strange disturbances begin appearing across the Romanian dragon sanctuary, the Ministry sends a curse breaker to investigate. Dragons are behaving unpredictably, nests are being disturbed, and no one can explain what is happening. The only person who seems to have any understanding of the creatures is Charlie Weasley, a dragon handler who has spent years earning the trust of the very beasts most people fear.
Assigned to work together, Y/N and Charlie find themselves following a trail that makes less and less sense. There are no obvious spells, no witnesses, and no clear enemy.
As they venture deeper into the mountains, facing dangerous creatures, freezing nights, and long days searching for answers, she begins to see the man behind the legend of Charlie Weasley. Beneath the soot, scars, and reckless bravery is someone patient, gentle, and far more vulnerable than he lets anyone believe. Charlie, in turn, discovers that the curse breaker sent to help him is not just clever and determined, but someone who understands the importance of protecting what cannot speak for itself.
But some things are harder to investigate than a magical crime.
Like why a dragonkeeper who swore he was perfectly happy alone keeps finding his way back to the same person.
And why, somewhere between fire and frost, two people who never expected to need anyone begin to realize they might have found someone worth staying for.
