So they left her on the doorstep but she wasn't taken into the house, because a lovely couple was walking by and saw her, read the letter and decided to adopt her as their own... this couple was Gomez and Morticia Addams (I'm changing the timelines so that it's in 2022 so that explains smartphones and laptops)(also my first attempt at writing a Watching the Series, so it will take time to finish so it makes sense and comes out good)
