Him and I, we were a perfect storm. The best of friends. We were all around trouble. And for 4 weeks, it stayed that way. He was new to town and new to the school. He didn't know about me or my past. He was looking for someone to accept him. He chose me. I was a little rebel looking for someone to save me. I chose him.

There are two things Harper Lynch wasn't expecting when she made out with an attractive stranger at her aunt's wedding. If living together isn't enough, Duke starts to go to Harper's school for the year, and immediately earns the status of the senior heartthrob. Suddenly, Harper, the girl who keeps mostly to herself and spends a lot of time in her room watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathons, is the envy of every girl in her high school. Harper couldn't care less, and despite that fact that she has insisted that she has in no interest in Duke, she is still subject to the wrath of jealous, catty bitches and the admiration of wide-eyed freshmen. It really doesn't help that Duke is constantly flirting with her in his own irritating yet charming way. Harper refuses to be yet another conquest, but is that what Duke wants? Or does he want more?

He closed in on the space between us and leaned close, grazing my cheek. "Just wait for the action baby doll, it hasn't even started yet." "C-Can you stop treating this like a game?" I stuttered, uncomfortable with the position we were in. At this, his eyes dilated and a lip-tugging smirk appeared on his face. "Oh, you want a game?" His smug look held a tinge of danger which sent shivers down my spine. "We'll have a game. But you're playing it my way." And with that, he stalked away. ▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷▶▷ All those cliché fairy tale love stories between the charming boy and the gorgeous girl starts with a super clichéd meeting. Like the girl tripping over herself and the boy magically appearing and catching her at just the right time. Or when the girl drops her pencil and both her and the boy reaches for it at the same time. Cliché. I know. But knowing it was one thing - experiencing it was another. Little did I know, this encounter would get my life wrapped up with the bad boy and his manipulating ways. Thank the lord I came prepared to play his game.
