At least that's what they said. After being stuck with the GIW for 3 years. They decided to bring Danny in to their work. They needed a new test subject. Why not make Danny one of theirs. He already knew how to fight. So they asked the boy to see why their ghost portal wouldn't work. He went inside and died. Well, half way died. The GIW had succeeded. They had a new weapon.
