He keeps them both, and meets a beating his boss gives him, then two rich people who he will claim as, 'weird rich snobby people'. Thomas just wanted a normal life; a life where he works his way to he rich and be alone and happy. But no, some people have to ruin it for him. And now, Thomas is held captive in the gods' favour.
