Wrote this during a time period where colorism was becoming more and more of a widespread issue in the community of color. So I felt that this needed to be said. Our women needed to be reminded of this...

This is the struggle of being a dark skin girl. You go through colorism, discrimination, sexism, etc. Your own men won't even date you because of your skin. Light skin people won't even acknowledge our struggles , but make it about them. They say "We're all black" , but silenced the dark skin. - Now I'm not dark skin. I'm brown but my sister is a dark skin self-hating person of color. I love her dearly , but I wish she knew that I understand her struggles.

You are amazing. We are amazing. A peom book (and whatever else I wind up writing down) for all the other black girls out there that need a reminder that we are a community. Communities lift each other up and fight together. 🎀💕✌🏾 (Some of the things in this book can also be said for my Asian and Hispanic girls out there as well) 🍄🍒❤

This will cover topics of racism, police brutality, colourism, etc. " I am black. My consciousness is black. My concerns are about black issues and about black people." Now yes I will hint into a few other topics that aren't necessarily "black issues" but still effect us greatly. Most importantly, this is a safe space for discussion. Treat it as such, I will not tolerate certain behavior that will be address as it arises. Stay civil and stay aware of others. But must importantly, BLACK LIVES MATTER
