Darkness. That's all I could see. Everywhere I looked, the inky blackness engulfed my vision. I squinted, searching for any speck of light, but found nothing. "Hello?!" My shouts echoed unanswered into the void. Panic rose as the darkness pressed down. I was alone here, floating in nothingness. I racked my aching mind, trying to recall how I came to be trapped in this endless night. Then, I heard it. A voice, calling my name. It repeated like a broken record, pleading for me to wake up. Could I be...dead? Slowly, I opened my eyes, wincing as sunlight flooded in through a nearby window. Blinking, I took in my surroundings - a hospital room. I glanced right to see cabinets stocked with medicine, then left, where a familiar pair of dull gray eyes met my violet ones. Relief, care, guilt, and confusion swirled in those stormy irises. Confusion...over what I was. The question I dreaded to answer.
