The Grimm have gotten bigger. Huntsman aren't cutting it against the wave of humongous sized monstrosities. So we've done what we always do: adapt, overcome... and level the playing field.

The explosion was meant to close the rift. It did just that while opening a new portal taking the almost destroyed Jaeger and its remaining pilot: Y/N.
