Lydia, a reporter working for a major New York newspaper is sent to an asylum upstate under the guise of buffing up the facility's image to show the state how the asylum celebrates Christmas with their patients. In reality, Lydia has been in contact with a former patient whose NDA expires on New Years Day, who wants to blow the roof off of the asylum, and show all of New York the true colors of the sadistic nuns and doctors who control the lives of the defenceless patients. Lydia entered the asylum thinking she would shine a light onto the corrupt staff, but she discovers a mystery much bigger than anything she expected.
