After surviving a deadly plague outbreak, sixteen-year-old Savannah thought she had lived through the very worst of human history. There was no way to know that the miracle vaccine would put everyone at risk for a fate worse than un-death. Now, two very different kinds of infected walk the Earth, intent on nothing but feeding and destroying what little remains of civilization. When the inoculated are bitten, infection means watching on in silent horror as self-control disappears and the idea of feasting on loved ones becomes increasingly hard to ignore. Starving and forced to live inside of the abandoned high school, all Savannah wants is the chance to fight back. When a strange boy arrives with a plan to set everything right, she gets her chance. Meeting Cole changes everything. Mere survival will never be enough.

Dear Reader, If you are looking for a story about cheerful events, and believe that the book title is a misnomer, and this is the very book you are looking for, put this book down, go back to the library, and do one of two things: A, take the biggest dictionary you can find and slam your head repeatedly with it until you have realized you can't comprehend book titles, or B, go search the library for a cheerful book. Truth be told, this story is anything but cheerful, unless you are some deranged criminal who finds murder, kidnapping, harpoon guns, and lots of crying to be cheerful. It is my unfortunate duty to take over the study of the Baudelaire orphans from my Uncle Lemony, and begin researching and writing the next miserable chapter of their lives. Unless you do not want a good night's sleep for the next month, you should probably put this book down and back slowly away from it. With all due respect, -Allison Snicket

The name's Chaos. Chaos Killbourne to be exact. People call me reckless, but they're wrong. I'm more like the perfect storm. Destroy an entire city with a single glance? I can do that. Wipe mankind off the face of the earth once and for all? I can do that too. Born to lead a revolt of epic proportions so the Dark Ones can rise up and rule the world is my destiny. Refusing to follow direct orders and become a weapon of mass destruction is my downfall. Cursed by fate, I'm currently on a collision course to form the perfect union in order to balance my explosive supernatural powers before I self-destruct, and take the planet with me. There's just one tiny problem. Once formed the union can never be broken. With a bad attitude and an even worse temper I can't be tamed. Not that I have time to worry about my love life, of course. I'm just trying to make it through high school in one piece. All I know for sure is that the future of mankind rests in my hands, which really pisses me off. I never asked to save the world. After all, I was born to destroy it. Copyright © 2014 ~ Somerlea All rights reserved.
