In an alternate version of modern London, Julia lives in a state of constant secrecy. The majority of the population has been brainwashed by the repressive government. Rebellion means certain death. Julia meets Winston Smith, and the two fall in love. As they continue to meet in secret, they come closer to the devastating conclusion: there can be no freedom under the watchful eye of Big Brother. Based on George Orwell's novel, this short story is told from Julia's perspective. I didn't label this as fanfiction at first, but I suppose that it is. Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays.
