Aspen asked, arching a brow. Vera's heart stuttered. "What?" Aspen laughed, then grinned. She gently grabbed Vera's wrist and walked them back through the main hall, turning behind the bookshelf marked Historical Fiction, and leading them to the dark corner. "Let me know if you want to stop," Aspen whispered, before pulling Vera close. *** Vera's life changes forever when her sister's best friend, Aspen, shows up drunk at her doorstep one fateful night. While Vera's sister, Layla, likes to dance and party, Vera prefers to read a good book and stay in for the night. Layla and her best friend Aspen are the most popular girls at Hilltop High. Vera never had a boyfriend-she barely even had her first kiss. But when Layla and their parents leave for a dance competition, Aspen shows up drunk at her doorstep and changes everything. Putting a twist on the familiar trope, My Sister's Best Friend is a feel good story of first love, queer romance, and coming of age. *** Warnings: This story contains a healthy dose of cursing, a teasing amount of lingerie, sprinkles of fluff, and of course, girlxgirl action. Also, there are underlying sub-themes of cancer with non-main characters, and is not fatal in this story. In which the popular boy attempts to use an exchange student to make his ex girlfriend jealous, but his ex ends up (fake) dating the exchange student instead. - After nearly three years of breaking and making up with her ex-boyfriend, all that Silena Valentine wants is some peace and quiet. Instead, she gets Mena Skelin- a handful of a temporary roommate, whose otherwise extensive vocabulary doesn't seem to include either of those words. Soon enough, Silena finds herself volunteering to do things she never would have even imagined: like kissing someone in front of the entire school, and catching very real feelings for her very fake girlfriend. And the latter kind of sucks, since she's pretty certain that Mena is only doing this in order to get revenge at the boy she actually likes. But then again, everything isn't always what it looks like.
