Ludwig Von Koopa, the more mature and sophisticated Koopaling out of all of his siblings, had begun hearing a voice inside of his head. The voice, he had recognized, to be someone he had thought he would never have to worry about again. He thought he had gotten rid of that side of him, not wanting to have to deal with being called the 'crazy' one. He tried to ignore the voice, but it was clear that he was not going to give up until everything Ludwig had worked hard to get rid of regained control. On top of that, an old enemy returns and tries to use him as an advantage to take down Bowser and all of the other kingdoms. He's tried his best, not wanting the crazy side of him to come out, again. When Bowser's new weapon backfires, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser fall into an alternate dimension where the villains are heroes, and the heroes are villains. The four must find a way back home, while avoiding many different threats. "Light and Dark are like two halves of the same coin. One can't exist without the other." Mario suddenly woke up from what he assumes as a nightmare. But in reality he learns that his 'dream' and the negativity that has spread through out the Mushroom Kingdom share a connection. Not only that...Luigi seems to have the same connection, but to light and positivity instead. Could this only be a coincidence? The two don't think the same at all. They both eventually find out that Luigi has the power over Light...and Mario has the power over Darkness. While Mario struggles to control this darkness they find that the balance between those two entities have become disconnected. Will light prevail and darkness expire? Will darkness prevail and light expire? Or shall the connection become whole once more, and make the world balanced again? Find the answers to these questions by reading this yourself.

Mario thinks this power could be tied to the nightmare, thinking it's not a coincidence at all. They thought it wasn't something too serious...but it turned out they were wrong. Will they be able to survive this power? Will they be able to fight back the darkness it holds? Find out with this heartfelt adventure the two brothers go to see which side they'll really fight for. The Darkness...or for the Light?
