But for Everleigh and her twin brother John B, treasure hunts were the reason their dad would avoid telling them anything. Treasure hunts were an excuse to disappear for days at a time. And treasure hunts, were the escape from the inconsistent life of living on The Cut. Bets are made, hands are thrown, and lives are constantly at risk during the hunt of a lifetime. Meg was glad to be back in the Outer Banks. Chicago was full of too much painful disruption and too many bad memories.
