"home, huh..."
the key turned with a creak and the door eased open. before he could take a single step inside, something dropped into his vision.
a corpse-like figure hung upside down from the doorway, its long, stringy hair brushing against the frame. a pale, blood-smeared face dangled inches from his own, eyes black and bottomless, staring straight into him.
he didn't move. he didn't scream. he simply stared back, lips pressed into a thin line as though caught in a staring contest he hadn't agreed to. the silence stretched, broken only by the faint hum of the hallway light above. he shut his eyes. just for a moment.
when he opened them again, there was nothing. just the doorway yawning open into the dim apartment, dust motes drifting lazily in the air.

after finally being discharged and working for a while before getting lucky enough to move into his childhood home, y/n achieves his dream of opening his own café. the customers are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and he's gotten used to smiling at everyone regardless of what he's been through. but there's something strange about it all. everyone seems just a little too nice. maybe it's because he tends to see things that aren't really there, not that anyone would take him seriously if he tried to explain. guess that's what he gets for being such a pushover. maybe he should just put his love on the menu and start charging for it. at least then it wouldn't feel so free for the taking.
