After the events of the Parents' Day fiasco, things go back to a relative sense of normalcy; that's if you consider a certain ten year old being uncharacteristically quiet and clingy towards two people he can't stand a normal thing. In this alternate take on the original story things are relatively the same with a few minor details that should make for an even more wild ride than the first time. David knows Max's family life isn't exactly easy, but when his parents don't come to pick him up at the end of the summer, he takes matters into his own hands. Things turn nasty when Max goes missing and Steven brings home a loud, hurt, swearing ten year old that Pearl doesn't know what to do with. The gems have to protect Steven, David and Max while another attack begins: but this time the threat is someone all too familiar. Rated Mature for Max's language and some of his family scenes. Ah yes, yet another fandom that has grabbed me around the neck and pulled along with it. And with fandoms comes headcanons and one shots. This should be fun.

(Max is 13 and Neil is 14 in this fanfic! Also, I have no ownership of Camp Camp!) What if, in the episode Mind Freakers, instead of Neil being obsessed over Harrison's magic trick and how he could do it, he was actually worried about Max rather than the magic trick? I'll tell you what would happen-- Maxeil/Nax would become sO CANON- *ahem* Anyway, a whole new story would unwind, and the two would fall in love. The problem is, Max is incredibly dense, since he never loved anyone romantically before (He used to love his parents, but let's not get into that... yet). So, Max tries his best to understand /why/ he feels so happy around Neil, or the knot in his chest when he sees Tabbii fawning over Neil. It's time for Max to learn How to Love Someone.
