Ghosts are real. They walk among the Eldar, wearing faces long forgotten, carrying names that do not belong to them. Gwaeniel knows this first hand. She is one of them. He wouldn't know her from that time long past. He has forgotten the horror of his former years, but she has chosen to bear the sins of her last life like shrouded scars. Few remain who recall Gwaeniel's face from when she last walked Middle Earth, though they all know her infamous name. Gwaeniel was once known as Finduilas, before she was killed back in the First Age. He once called her Faelivrin, for the sun shining on the waters of the Narog River. She knew him as Gwindor in those days, but now he is called Legolas Greenleaf. No longer a long dead warrior of the lost kingdom of Nargothrond, but the Prince of the Woodland Realm.

A dark figure haunts her steps. Even as Luimëníssë settles into her husband's mountainous fortress at the Pass of Aglon, the blank spaces in her memory become more frequent. Frightened by these instances and driven by a coming change in their lives, she seeks the counsel of Queen Melian in Doriath where her brother Vantaro protects the ancient woods as a march warden. Luimëníssë is warned the fragile happiness that she and her husband have cultivated can only last for so long. For the Enemy is gaining strength once again. And an ancient oath sworn across the sea will never release Curufin from it's greedy clutches. Not as long as the silmarils exist. All these images are played back in dreams to Ivy McKee who, in the sweltering summer of 1925 in New York City, has agreed to become an informant against her charismatic employer who is in league with the mob. But there is more at stake than her life. The enigmatic Chauffeur warns her that perhaps her very soul is at risk should she get any closer than necessary to Smith. "King Thranduil's voice rung out again, filling the area, 'And Legolas? Do not fail, she could be the tipping of the balance that Middle-earth needs.'" - Lumornel has always been a quiet girl, content with her nose stuck in a book or writing in her journal. She'd rather sit in a tree and read than leave the forests of her home. But she then learns that not all is as it seems. An unexpected quest is thrust upon her. Her shyness must be swept aside and she must stand strong as the War of the Rings rages on. And what happens when Lumornel stops an Uruk-Hai from shooting Boromir on Amon Hen and the Ring is taken from Frodo? In these times of troubles, she finds unexpected love in a certain woodland prince. She faces terrifying enemies, unexpected consequences, and surprising revelations, such as her part in an ancient prophecy. And one constant remains; the sorrow she feels for Arda. Most importantly, she finds herself in the middle of it all because of one thing: she bears a power that no one has been known to have. Because of this power, she is forced into the Fellowship of the Ring: the tenth member. - "This story is not your average Lord of the Rings fanfiction where some girl enters the fellowship as the tenth walker and inherits some strange ability, it is much more than that. It is a story of love and compassion, the battle against the mind's inner demons, and the weariness and desire for a better world that drives the soul." - • Completed 7/31/18 • - Awards won: •Overall Winner and •Best Female Character of the 'Precious Awards' hosted by @Meisha13578. •Second Place in 'The Battle of Helm's Deep' hosted by @Middle_Earth_Awards Highest Rankings: •1 in lotrfanfiction •1 in LotR •1 in middle-earth •1 in legolasgreenleaf •2 in Tolkien •1 in original character • 1 in lotrau •1 in projectclean • 2 in Legolasfanfiction - *Contains a chapter written by nonother than Monste
