After George accidentally outs himself in front of the popular and homophobic guys of the school everything seems fine at first. However, that soon changes when he receives weird and hurtful messages online, this soon escalates from just one message to something much more serious. Meanwhile, Clay is closeted yet he has known he likes boys for a while now after falling for George. However, he can never seem to find the time to talk to anyone about this as he has to constantly help his sick mum and sister. With the cyber bullying all becoming too much, George becomes extremely overwhelmed, while Clay finds himself taking more and more medication to calm himself every day. This soon escalated from a small issue into something unimaginably worse. Clay isn't able to go to school after he gets diagnosed with gastroparesis, a partial paralysis of the stomach. After George gets kicked out from his home, he needs to live on the streets and survive on his own as an underaged boy. He starts using his money in the wrong way and eventually runs out, seeking a job as a babysitter in a family with a very sick boy. Clay does anything to enjoy life as a normal teen and acts like the funny guy who constantly jokes about his sexuality and uses a lot of pick-up lines which makes everyone laugh. Clay suffers from extreme epilepsy and no one knows how and wants to help him. He has no friends and school is a hell for him. When starts his last year in high school and the class changes, he meets George. Georges mother is a nurse and George is the only one who knows how to act. They become friends and in one mysterious way, Clays seizures get less and less the longer he spends with George. Clay starts slowly falling for George and it seems that George is his only 'medicine' against his seizures. But does George like him back?

Clay has autism and finds comfort in simple things, the illuminated a fireplace on a winter's night, fish swimming and stuffed animals. However, this was all soon to change after a tragic accident. Clay finds himself alone, seeing his happiness slip away from one simple mistake. George doesn't have an easy home life, after noticing signs of possibly a muscle disease, his only wish is to get help for it, however his parents deny every word that is brought up about it. Yet, it gets worse by the day as George quickly looses any hope left. When Clay is left traumatised by his past, he thinks nothing will bring back the same happiness he once felt, but when George moves into the farm he often visits, that same joy that was extinguished with the fire, sparks again...
