So basically gods can pick humans to be their chosen one, each relationship can be different like a platonic one or even a romantic one. Many of the gods had their chosen one but when dream made his pick, it struck a nerve for philza's chosen human, a king of the biggest nation of the smp. Wilbur. Dream wanted to pick the son of wilbur and the gods all knew that dream had never picked a platonic human. His previous chosen one had been George, King of the Greater SMP but he had challenged Eret, God of the people which had caused for the death of the once King of the powerful nation. Dream had been mad over the loss of his lover for years but had recently forgotten after he had fell for the Prince of Lmanburg. He had fallen hard.
