Skai was the kind of person that did reckless things just to be able to say that she had done them. I was the kind of person who liked to stay at home, and just read about people like Skai. Adventure, recklessness, it was never really my thing. But, Skai was different, and I was intrigued. I never really understood how much I had been missing until I met her. This is a story about my newfound, crazy, reckless, life. And a story about the girl that dragged me through it.

A surfing safari down the coast of California, a few shocking and rather unpleasant secrets, and four inevitable relationships that seem doomed to fail - this is where six salt-encrusted, surf-stoked teenagers find themselves as they rocket down PCH in a beat-up Volkswagen surf van. Alana Walker was born and bred in the waters of Ventura, CA. She's known as the best surfer at C Street and has a heart for God. Cole Anderson, on the other hand, hates anything that has to do with church and loathes being second-best to a girl, especially when that girl is Alana. So when these two get stuck on a month-long surfing safari, they find that their relationships - and more importantly, their faith - is about to be compromised. Elliot, the football playing socialite, has done nothing but try to fit in as long as he can remember- keeping his true self locked up from the world. Alaska, the incredibly passionate and shy reader, seeks acceptance for who she is in a society so corrupt. Together, they will discover how similar the two sides of the high school spectrum can be while battling adolescence one issue at a time. Commenting on the circumstances, Alaska and Elliot will help each other realize how great life truly can be, if you give it a fair chance.
