London, 1979. It was just another simple spying mission, so James didn't expect anything to happen. As it escalated he just should have left and returned into safety, when he saw the little brother of his best friend lying in his own blood, facing a certain death. Death Eater or not, he couldn't leave him there, could he? But inviting the enemy into your home in the middle of a war couldn't possibly be a good idea.

There Regulus was. A flawless artwork. Shining as bright as the stars above him. James couldn't move forward, no matter how much he wanted to. He didn't want to ruin the sombre yet peaceful state the young Slytherin was in, looking up at the different constellations James knew nothing about. He had never seen Regulus like this before - utterly relaxed whilst leaning against the ageing tree. It was the second time he had thought the boy simply.. human, and it jarred him. James didn't want to think of the curly-haired boy as anything else than a traitor to his brother. Anything else but a future death-eater. They were destined to be on different sides and thinking of Regulus as anything else almost felt like a betrayal. But it didn't stop him simply standing there, under the shadows of the night. Maybe James could have justified himself looking over to make sure Regulus wasn't doing any weird, death eater type shit. But James would be lying to himself. He simply wanted to watch the silent boy look at the stars.

"You're a goddamn catalyst, you know that?" He said slowly, the wind picking up and blowing his hair into his eyes. "Every single emotion I feel, they become whole damn explosions because of you." I sat there frozen, my breath caught in my throat. I make him feel explosions. I think of quicksilver eyes and pinkies brushing against one another and shared earbuds. You make me feel how I imagine touching the stars would be. Say it. Say it. Say it. Nothing comes out. Draco's expression shuttered closed, his spine going rigid. He stood up quickly, towering over me, and he held his broken arm out. "I know we bleed the same, Granger. All rights go to JK Rowling* Disclaimer: some parts towards the end are straight from the original Deathly Hallows book/movie, more towards the last few chapters becausa jkr wrote the scenes well and I didn't want to rewrite canon. This was to highlight the outcomes of the story that do not change despite Draco and Hermione's relationship and everything that entails. I added a few things such as changing it to Hermione's POV, adding her thoughts, and changing some details to fit the story.

"You know what I think?" Harry leaned across the table. "I think you're afraid. You don't take risks like us Gryffindors." He scoffed. "Please, you Gryffindors are all wand-waving and no spell." Harry grinned, settling back into his seat. "Not me. I always follow through." "Prove it." Harry stood up and walked around the table. He leaned over Draco, one hand no his chair and the other on the table. Their faces were a mere inch apart, so close that Draco could see flecks of brown in his emerald eyes. "I don't see any follow-through," Draco taunted. And then Harry kissed him. Harry's hands fell to his shoulders so quickly that Draco teetered on his seat. Draco reached up and grabbed Harry's shirt in an attempt to catch his balance which resulted in the two boys falling to the ground with Harry on top. Harry's cheeks were red with embarrassment as he tried to get up. All he managed to do was knee Draco in the leg. Draco put his hands on Harry's hips. "Stop. Let me." In one fluid motion, Draco flipped them around so he was kneeling above Harry. "And for future reference," Draco smirked, bringing his lips down to brush against his. "I'm always on top."

Post HBP. Ron and Harry are Horcrux hunting and Hermione has been left at Hogwarts to help the Order make it safe for the other students. Draco is forced by Snape to stay in Hogwarts for his own protection, but he can't leave the room he is given; Granger's room. Hermione is the only student trusted with this information, so her and Malfoy share the small space, and Draco tries to avoid insanity as he becomes increasingly isolated with only the Mudblood for company.
