"Submit to me King," I growled mockingly, my grip tightening across his neck as I stared right into his eyes. My fiery yellowish-red eyes shone brighter as I started absorbing his soul, feeding on it. His pulse started to weaken before dropping completely. Weak. I threw his limp body on the ground roughly before turning around to face the crowd. My people cheered louder and louder as I shouted with a deadly smirk on my face, "Your true queen is back my people." *** Ernaline Morrigan, a 19-year-old normal girl with the most boring normal life ever. Waking up, going to college, coming back, going to work, meeting her boyfriend and then sleeping to wake up and do the same thing all over again. Pretty normal, isn't it? But what if her life was never meant for all this normalcy at all? *** You'll never find out a more peaceful place than this darkness surrounding you. After years of absence, a young woman returns to her island home, revisiting demons she thought forgotten. This story was originally written for "Dark Dreams" an anthology by @tenebris_somnia. After been expanded to enter TNT's horror contest, it made the top 35. 😄
