Thornpaw and Aspenpaw carry this story together as the Clans make their way over hills, through valleys, and past all sorts of twoleg investments to get tp their new home. Thornpaw and Aspenpaw both trained in the dark forest, but when their mentors are gone and their sleep is now dreamless, they have to learn to cope without some cat holding their paw; can they do it? ++++ "Follow the trail of stardust to reach your new home."

Meanwhile, in MoonClan, Squirrelpaw's friend, Hawkpaw, becomes more and more distant, and Squirrelpaw's concern grows. In DuskClan, Mousepaw's brother, Thornpaw, awakes every night with a new scar. He refuses to tell her his secret-that he is also training in the dark forest with other Clan cats. But Mousepaw is determined to learn his secret.
