In the Story the perspective of Dylan and Thomas will sometimes switch to Thomas and Newt so I would recommend to get a sense for Newt being Thomas in real life and Thomas being Dylan, before reading. Not making any big changes, just altering it enough to have movies and books get along with each other. Also it's told from Newt's point of view cause I just love putting myself through misery.
