Rick is a 34 year old male who serves as the right hand of the city of Toronto. He has no goals in life, instead opting to focus on his own survival and immediate gratification. After having run away from home at the age of 13, he has a chance encounter with an individual named Frank who leads him to his farm in Bowmanville. Without having any knowledge of Frank's true motivations, he takes the opportunity to have a roof over his head and study the occult in order to free himself from the shackles of reality. Unfortunately, this all ends in tears as he is unwittingly possessed by the spirit of The Legion who takes advantage of Rick's lust for power and control by guiding his hand. Realizing what he's done, Rick flees from the farm with the haunting memory and constant taunts of The Legion tearing away at his psyche. Two straight days of running later, he finally finds himself in the city of Toronto who appears to him in visions - much like it had to the shamans that once lived in her lands. The city sees Rick as a kindred soul; lacking in direction and only wanting to find some manner of personal identity. They strike a bargain where Rick is told where to go through ambiguous messages to carry out her wishes and in return she shields him from the ever-present threat of being consumed by inner demons.

Ghosts of People Past begins with a series of mysterious events that happen to fifty-year-old Nora one snowy night in a remote mountain village of Western Macedonia, Greece. Upon returning home from a cousin’s funeral, she finds an email on her computer from the Algerian archaeology student she once nearly loved to death. This triggers off a surge of memories and reopens unresolved issues with her past, the closure she never got and the guilty secrets she has harbored. With the help of a bottle of whisky and her resurrected cat, she begins to dust off her memories and starts to write her life story determined to finish it in one night before it is too late. From Boston to Thessaloniki and from Rome to Algeria she narrates the events of her life that stigmatized her forever: her expulsion from her home in Boston by her parents, the cultural shock of moving to Greece, her doomed love for a Muslim student in the hard and gloomy years of the Greek dictatorship in Greece. Her communication with her ex-boyfriend via MSN unravels on a second plane of narration and leads to dramatic revelations which force Nora to face a past she has spent years struggling to forget. The dimensions of time mesh in a strange game of alternating reality and fantasy right up to the books cathartic end. You can find me at:
