He didn't have the strength to come out not by choice, so he left his secret boyfriend Simon to face the media alone, to feel the embarrassment, and violation alone. So Simon broke up with him. He loves Simon but knows that until he comes out they can't be together. He knows that Simon loves him back and is trying to build up the confidence to win him back, by doing the one thing that the news and everyone will never forget and never stop talking about.
