Aurelia Frost, Duchess of Alynthi and captain of the Askari Royal Guard, has spent her life choosing steel over silk. Reckless, sharp-tongued, and fiercely loyal, she has little patience for court politics... or for her infuriating king, Kaius Adrastos, whose calm restraint clashes with every unruly instinct she possesses. But when bodies begin appearing along the border of the Elderwood, a cursed forest all mortals are forbidden to enter, Aurelia defies the High Council and leads Kaius into its shadowed depths, where they uncover a terrifying truth. As darkness spreads through Askya and tensions tighten around the throne, Aurelia is pulled into a mystery millennia in the making. To survive, she must face the secrets she has buried, the dangerous pull toward a man she cannot afford to love, and a destiny she never wanted but can no longer outrun.

Hated by her clan. Hunted by No-Landers. Desired by Kings. Leyla is a Warrior. Strong. Fast. Unwavering. Yet she looks nothing like a Warrior. Dark haired and green eyed, she stands out in a Kingdom full blonde-haired blue-eyed citizens who all tower over her. Despite their differences, her rank as an officer in the Warrior Army makes her untouchable to most. But things start getting complicated when Leyla attracts the attention of the idol of all, the shoe-in for the next Warrior King: Colonel Alec of the House of Steel. Jealous princesses and angry superiors are not the only problems on the horizon when a messenger appears from the powerful Land of Light with an offer for the Warrior King that will change Leyla's life... Don't even think about coming here unless you've read book one. Book one is called Obsidian Awakening, posted on my profile. Rated mature for everything imaginable (and unimaginable) one would call mature.
