In 1984, 6-year-old Alexander Sedona walks into an old-fashioned schoolhouse in the quaint rural town of Oaksbury, Pennsylvania, situated in the heart of the Old Amish Country. In one of the country's safest places, the small boy never leaves the old schoolhouse. An inexplicable phenomenon, his disappearance rocks the community to the core. Believing the boy's disappearance to be the result of witchcraft, devil worship, or even worse, the town of Oaksbury quickly deteriorates. Three decades pass, and as the memory of Alexander Sedona's disappearance fades, so does what is left of the once-beautiful town. Those who remain live simple, quiet lives. Little disturbs the peace until Rosalie Andrews, the former apprentice in charge of the children that haunted night, comes across a body. The corpse is that of a stunning young woman, lying beneath the azaleas that still bloom in the yard of the abandoned school house. A black cat anxiously circles her body, a mysterious note tucked in his collar. The young woman's body is pristine, except for one perplexing fact. The crime lab discovers she is covered in the blood of Alexander Sedona, the schoolboy who disappeared before she was even born. Determined to put a lifetime of guilt behind her and lay the ghosts of her childhood to rest, Rosalie makes it her mission to find justice for Alexander Sedona--and the angelic young woman who tells his secrets from beyond the grave. The death seems at first an accident, but Morgan knows in her heart that a delicate strut of life has fallen out of balance. As Morgan and Jason delve into the mystery, still waters are stirred. Danger billows from the depths of Purgatory Chasm, from the twisted histories that stretch back decades. Can they unravel the tangled skeins before the past catches up with them? All author's proceeds of this series benefit battered women's shelters. Aspen Allegations is the first novel in the award-winning Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series. It is followed by Birch Blackguards. All novels in the Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series are written in a boots-on-the-ground, chapter-a-day format. On November 1st, author Lisa Shea went to the Sutton woods, hiked through them, and then that evening she wrote up the actual sights and sounds of that visit. That was Chapter One. The same process held true for each subsequent day and location. By November 30th the book was laid out. Each book captures a moment in time; as a whole the series shows the progression of events, news, and nature in Sutton over the years. Lisa has lived in Sutton for nearly two decades and strives to craft stories which transport readers to her beautiful town. She offers a glimpse into Sutton's combination of centuries-old history and a modern, sliced-through-by-a-busy-highway existence.

Matthias is a struggling writer finally able to move into his first solo apartment. He's thrilled to have a place free of roommates and siblings, even though the building is decrepit and is inhabited by an odd assortment of people including an intrusive neighbor, a little girl who wanders freely, and an overweight orange cat named Cheese. As Matthias settles in things begin getting stranger. Something vile is growing in the dark and it's coming from somewhere on the second floor... where Matthias happens to live. Author's note: this is me trying to get back to my roots: a character driven novella with horror elements. The story of people struggling against an inscrutable enemy, as well as the day to day trials of being poor in America. I have no idea how often I'll update or even exactly how this will all go down because y'girl is a panster. So strap in because this is the first draft and you all get to see it being born! Feel free to comment whatever comes to mind, and helpful critiques are always welcome.
